Winter can be hard. Give yourself a break and come to Edmonton, where we’ve been making winters pleasant and even enjoyable since the city was first formed!

THE STRUMBELLAS

The Strumbellas play music that makes you feel GOOD. This band from Toronto channels acts like The Lumineers, Mumford and Sons and Arcade Fire into an explosive stage show that will have you singing and clapping along. They’re one of Canada’s hottest acts right now, and recently performed on Late Night with Seth Meyers!

If you’re not already on The Strumbellas train now is a great time to do so. Check out their latest album Rattlesnake and buy tickets to see them on January 15 at the Jubilee Auditorium.

WINTERRUPTION

This is the big one. Winterruption is one of Edmonton’s favourite festivals, and it’s here to disrupt the winter blues and show you a great time! Combining music, comedy and so much more, it’s the absolute best antidote to getting over January.
Taking place Thursday, January 23 to Sunday, January 26 at Abbey Glen Park, this is four days of some of the best entertainment you’ll have all year.

Headlining this year’s event is the Wu-Tang Clan’s very own GZA, performing the entirety of Liquid Swords to celebrate the 25th anniversary of that seminal album. He’ll be joined by gender and genre-bending pioneer Ezra Furman, indie rockers No Age, soulful songstress Begonia, nerd comedian extraordinaire Brian Posehn and many, many more. It’s a blast every year and this year isn’t an exception!

Excited to break out of the winter blues? Book a room at the Days Inn Edmonton South and we’ll help you gear up for exploring the city's attractions. Want to get ready to make the most of every day of Winterruption? Wake up to a great start with our complimentary DayBreak breakfast, including freshly baked waffles, yogurt, baked goods, and more!
