Edmonton is known for its shopping and is arguably one of the best places to get some retail therapy. From local farmers markets to get artisan goods, to the West Edmonton Mall’s abundance of stores, there’s a shopping destination in Edmonton for everyone.

FARMERS MARKETS

Edmonton has many farmers markets, and one of the largest is the Old Strathcona Farmers Market. The Old Strathcona Farmers Market is one of Edmonton’s originals, and has been running every Saturday since 1983. Their motto is ‘we made, baked, and grew it for you”, as they focus on locally grown and sourced products. The market can hold over 130 vendors, and is located in the historic area of Old Strathcona off of Whyte Avenue. They are open indoor year round, and carry almost everything- produce, baked goods, artisan goods, clothing, home décor, and more. The Market is open Saturdays from 8:00 am – 3:00pm, and there is free parking for guests.

4TH STREET PROMENADE

For a shopping destination outside, the 4th Street Promenade is a retail hub in the heart of downtown. The area is known for its fashionable boutiques and great restaurants. There are also plenty of furniture and art stores in the area. The 4th Street Promenade is lined with historic buildings and old warehouse buildings that have been refurbished into new stores. The area is also home to plenty of cafés and restaurants so shoppers can recharge after wandering through all the stores.

WEST EDMONTON MALL

The West Edmonton Mall is the largest mall in North America- but it’s hardly just a mall. It spans almost 50 city blocks, with attractions including an amusement park, a waterpark, a multi-level go-cart track, a casino an aquarium, an ice rink, bowling… and much more. In fact, there are over 800 stores in West Edmonton Mall! If visitors get hungry while shopping, there are over 100 dining options too. The mall is open daily, and you could probably go every day for a week without going into the same store twice!

After a busy day of shopping through Edmonton, have a rest at the Days Inn Edmonton South. The Days Inn is located in Old Strathcona, right near the Farmers Market. Enjoy the comfortable rooms & delicious complimentary breakfast after a day out in Edmonton.
