Alberta Culture Days is the latest event to take over the province.

Kicking off September 1st and lasting a whole month until September 30th, Alberta Culture Days gives residents of cities all across the province the chance to discover, experience, and celebrate arts and culture in their city. Through a mix of in-person and virtual events and activities, locals are being given a rare opportunity to participate in the cultural lives of their communities.

You may have guessed that Edmonton is one of many Alberta cities participating in the 2021 event. This means that all September long, you’ll find fascinating events centred on arts and culture taking place around the city.

For example, on Saturday, September 11th (as well as Thursday, September 16th), Edmonton will become home to Edmonton Chante 2021, a celebration of Francophone music. While on Sunday the 12th, locals have the option of experiencing a little bit of Hungarian and Venezuelan culture with two unique events: Hungarian Heritage Weekend 2.0 hosted by the Canadian Hungarian Cultural Society of Edmonton, and Venezuela Culture Days, put on by the Association of Venezuelans in Edmonton.

Later in the month, Edmonton residents can choose between an online West African Dancing Workshop hosted by Jube School, an Indigneous Storytelling experience with Curt Young, and a virtual Screenwriting workshop with award-winning writer and author Neil Chase.

Other events you won’t want to miss include Watercolour Painting with Maya Corona on September 22nd, Bollywood Dance with Sparq Productions on September 23rd, the YouthWrite 25th Anniversary Block Party on Saturday, September 25th, and a child-friendly Opera Tots event where Edmonton Opera singer Catherine Daniel will perform a musical retelling of “The Three Little Pigs” on September 26th.

Alberta Culture Days events in Edmonton are free to attend, so we recommend attending as many as possible!

If you’re going to be in Edmonton this September, then be sure to partake in one of the many Alberta Culture Days events taking place in the city. And if you need a place to stay during your visit, you’re always welcome at the Days Inn by Wyndham Edmonton South.
